FreightPOP TMS and Logistics

Q: Can you introduce us to FreightPOP and the core problem it aims to solve in the logistics industry?

Kurt Johnson: Absolutely. FreightPOP was born from our parent company, Horizon Technology. As a large volume shipper, we tried almost every TMS on the market until we realized that these big out-of-the-box systems didn’t work for us. We needed something more configurable, so we built it ourselves. When we saw how good it was, we decided to bring it to market.

FreightPOP was designed with the vision of simplifying logistics management for businesses of all sizes. The core problems we address are the complexity and time consumption that come with shipping operations. Our platform streamlines the process, making it easier for companies to manage shipments, compare rates, track deliveries, and analyze logistics data, among other functions, all in one place.

Unmasking the Total Cost of ownership of a TMS: what to look for

Q: The Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is a significant consideration for businesses investing in a TMS. How does FreightPOP ensure a favorable TCO for its users?

Kurt Johnson: That's a great question. We focus on three key areas to ensure a favorable TCO for our users: integration, scalability, and user experience. First, our platform integrates seamlessly with existing ERP, WMS, accounting, and other tech systems, which reduces the need for costly customizations. Second, FreightPOP is designed to scale with businesses, ensuring that companies don't have to invest in a new TMS as they grow. Finally, our platform is designed with user-friendliness in mind, aiming to streamline the learning curve and facilitate broader adoption across organizations.

Q: In terms of features and functionality, what sets FreightPOP apart from other TMS solutions?

Kurt Johnson: FreightPOP differentiates itself through its ease of use, comprehensive feature set, and flexibility. Our users appreciate the intuitive interface and the ability to customize workflows to fit their specific needs. Additionally, our platform offers advanced features like automated carrier selection, operational planning, freight auditing, and AI-powered analytics, which provide valuable insights into shipping operations and opportunities for cost savings. Beyond that, FreightPOP is one of the few true multimode TMS systems on the market. Even though other TMSs tout multimode capabilities, we’ve found that once you get into the system, they tend to be structured more towards parcel shipping, with freight as an afterthought. We’ve built FreightPOP to work equally well for both shipping modes, plus ocean and air.

Q: Looking ahead, how do you see TMS solutions, particularly FreightPOP, evolving to meet the future needs of the logistics industry?

Kurt Johnson: The future of TMS solutions lies in leveraging technology to further reduce manual processes and enhance decision-making. At FreightPOP, we're investing in AI and machine learning to improve logistics operations across the board. We have big plans this year with many new offerings coming to our customers very soon, making 2024 a very exciting year for the FreightPOP team.

Q: Finally, for businesses considering a TMS, what advice would you give them?

Kurt Johnson: My advice would be to look for a TMS that not only meets your current needs but can also grow your business. Consider the ease of integration, the scalability of the solution, and the level of support provided. A TMS like FreightPOP can be a game-changer for your logistics operations, offering significant time and cost savings, and ultimately, a competitive advantage in the market.
